SEO For Wordpress Bloggers

Below are my top five SEO tips for Wordpress bloggers.

1. Install an SEO plugin on your blog - such as the powerful All-in-One Seo or the newer more robust Platinum SEO. These two take care of alot of the basic onsite search engine optimization you need on your blog posts and pages. (this mostly applies to Wordpress bloggers)

2. Get Backlinks – it doesn’t matter if your blog is a day old or 3 months old, you can never start too early to hunt down for link opportunities. Start with relevant directories.

3. Link To Yourself – Well not exactly. What I mean is make sure you regularly link to other articles, pages and blog posts you’ve written. This creates a spider web effect that search engines know and rely on.

4. Install a Sitemap – Sitemaps are literally maps to the content on your blog, and Google loves them. My favorite way to add a sitemap to my blogs is with the Dagon Design sitemap plugin. Fast, easy and free.

5. Use a Related Posts Plugin – this action produces similar results as installing a sitemap. It lets Google know of the content on your site and how it relates to the overall topic of your blog.

These are basic but powerful ideas, don’t underestimate any of these tips. If you haven’t yet added or practiced these SEO tips, now is a great time.

You’ll rise to the top in no time.

Besides All-in-One SEO Pack & Platinum SEO Pack, I recommend Wordpress SEO Master which includes 4 modules: META, NoFollow, NoIndex & AutoLinker.

    Cheers,

    Hi,

I’ve not heard of Wordpress SEO Master, will have to look into it and check it out. It would be nice to have a comparison tree of these three wp plugins, to see the main differences between them.

    Thx for the solid tip!

  3. Jobs UK says:

    You’re welcome.

I’ve made a small review for this plugin, but it’s written in Romanian ( which I think it’s not helpful ).

  4. Missy says:

Is WP SEO Master a paid plugin? Also you should definitely consider writing your review in English – or maybe add a translate plugin to your blog, like Global Translator so us darling Americans can see it.

    Let me know.

  5. Jobs UK says:

    You’re probably right. :)

No, WP SEO Master isn’t a paid plugin.

  6. Jobs UK says:

Another SEO plugin you can check: ‘wpSeo’ ( free for non-commercial blogs, $19.99 for commercial ).

  7. Ben Pei says:

    One SEO plugin isn’t enough!

  8. Missy says:

    Hey, Ben:

I usually only use the All-In-One SEO plugin and i’m good to go. There are others out there – but this one does the job well enough for me. If you take care of onsite and offsite SEO stuff, you won’t need to add too many plugins for optimization. But…

Which other SEO (wordpress plugins) do you recommend? And why?

  9. The all in one plugin is a must. This plugin saves you plenty of time!

  10. Yes basic tips for every wordpress blogger. Link to yourself it’s a very important “must do” and i will add “link to number 1″ in your niche.

  11. Cartuse says:

I try to restart a very old domain. This tips are useful and I give a try.

  12. Holly says:

i am still looking for a good SEO plugin for Wordpress. my blog is not ranking high enought for the keywords that i wanted to rank.

  13. Missy says:

    Hi, Holly:

Which SEO plugin are you currently using? The two most popular are All In One SEO and Platinum SEO, both are free and both are available via the Wordpress.org site.

Another option you might want to consider is using the popular
Thesis Theme which has on site SEO already built-in. With this theme, neither plugin is required.

    Let me know more. Cheers!
